1937 August 31, Married Hahn Hae Alice Kyung in Manchuria. Sept 17 same year (after being married for 17 days) he left his wife in Korea and went to United States to study. Alice planned to join him in USA and she was admitted to a college in USA but the Japanese would not let her go.
1937 Came to United States and stayed with his brother Luke Kim in Los Angeles. He learned to cook to get a job. Attended Chatham Seminary for one year and received Bachelor's Degree in Divinity.
